1-Hydroxypyrene b-D-glucuronide is a metabolite of the carcinogen 1-hydroxypyrene. It is a monoclonal antibody that can be used as a biomarker for the detection of 1-hydroxypyrene in urine samples. The analytical method for this compound is fluorescence spectrometry, with a synchronous fluorescence detector. This technique can be used to measure hydroxy pyrene glucuronide in urine samples from both women and men, but there are statistically significant differences between genders. Logistic regression analysis has shown that age and body mass index are independent factors for the presence of 1-hydroxypyrene glucuronide in urine samples.
