4-Methoxyphenyl 2,6-di-O-benzyl-3,4-O-isopropylidene-b-D-galactopyranose is a neurotrophic factor that belongs to the family of morphogenetic proteins. It is found in Podocarpaceae and is a growth factor. This compound has been shown to have hepatoprotective effects against viral infection and can be used as an antiviral agent. 4MPBG also has antiinflammatory and immunomodulatory properties.
