1,2,3,4-Tetra-O-acetyl-a-L-fucopyranose,
1,2,3,4-Tetra-O-acetyl-?-L-fucopyranose is a chiral compound and it has been used as a biocatalyst in the industrial production of L-amino acids. The enantiomers are obtained by enzymatic hydrolysis of the racemic mixture with lipases. It has been shown that 1,2,3,4-Tetra-O-acetyl-?-L-fucopyranose is an enantioselective substrate for lipolytic enzymes. Lipolytic enzymes are also screened for lipase activity using this compound as a surrogate.
