2,3,4-Tri-O-benzyl-b-D-arabinopyranose (TBA) is a sugar that is found in the skin of primates. It has been shown to promote epidermal growth factor (EGF) production and maturation of the epidermis. TBA has also been shown to have a gestational age effect on epidermal growth. This compound has been used as a synchronizing agent for animal studies in vitro and has been investigated as a treatment for cesarean sections, which may help to reduce the risk of infection and postoperative complications. TBA has also been used to treat skin diseases such as psoriasis and ichthyosis by stimulating keratinocyte proliferation and differentiation.
