3’-Sialyllactose (3’SL)
Product Description
3’-Sialyllactose (3’SL) is a naturally occurring sialylated human milk oligosaccharide (HMO) composed of lactose linked to N-acetylneuraminic acid (sialic acid) through an α2-3 glycosidic bond. It is one of the most abundant acidic HMOs present in human breast milk and plays a critical role in infant nutrition, immune development, and gut microbiota modulation.
3’SL is widely used in glycobiology research, microbiome studies, infant nutrition research, and biomedical applications. It serves as an important substrate for studying host–microbe interactions, pathogen inhibition, and brain development mechanisms associated with sialylated glycans.
Due to its defined structure and high purity, 3’-Sialyllactose is also used in analytical standards, glycan synthesis, and pharmaceutical research, particularly in studies focusing on neonatal immunity, neurodevelopment, and anti-adhesion effects against pathogens.
