4-Methylumbelliferyl a-L-idopyranoside is a fluorescent substrate that is used in chemiluminescence and bioluminescence reactions. It is also used as a ligand in enzyme assays and as a chromogenic substrate in diagnostic tests. Chemiluminescent substrates are important tools for the measurement of the activity of enzymes, such as horseradish peroxidase, glucose oxidase, alkaline phosphatase, and ?-glucuronidase. This product has been tested for its environmental safety and can be used in food testing. This compound has been shown to be stable over time at pH values ranging from 2.0 to 9.0 and may be utilized at temperatures up to 50?C.
