4-Nitrophenyl b-D-fucopyranoside
4-Nitrophenyl b-D-fucopyranoside is a potent inhibitor of the enzyme protein glycosylation. It is also able to inhibit the growth of bacteria, including Gram-positive and Gram-negative species. The sequenced strain is able to grow on solar and alcohol substrates, while the affinity for bacterial strain varies according to morphology. 4-Nitrophenyl b-D-fucopyranoside has been shown to have an amino acid sequence that closely resembles that of agarose and transferase, which are enzymes involved in glycosylation. This compound has been used as a clone and cosmogenic marker in electron microscopy studies.
