5-Bromo-6-chloro-3-indolyl 2-acetamido-2-deoxy-b-D-glucopyranoside is a chromogenic substrate that can be used to measure the activity of beta galactosidase in foods, enzyme substrates, and culture media. This compound has been shown to be a ligand for beta galactosidase. 5Bromo-6chloroindolyl 2 acetamido 2 deoxy b D glucopyranoside is also a fluorogenic substrate that can be used as a diagnostic tool for chemiluminescence, bioluminescence, or fluorescence. 5Bromo 6 chloro 3 indolyl 2 acetamido 2 deoxy b D glucopyranoside is also used in environmental testing and staining.
