Allyl b-D-glucopyranoside is a sweet and stable sugar that is used in the production of food and pharmaceutical products. It is sourced from corn starch or rice starch. Allyl b-D-glucopyranoside has been shown to be more efficient than chloride when added to tandospirone citrate, a herbal medicine, for the prevention of gastric ulcers. This sugar has also been used in clinical use as an additive in medicines such as alginic acid.
