4-Nitrophenyl N,N’-diacetyl-b-D-chitobioside is a fluorogenic substrate that can be used for the detection of chitinase activity. It has been shown to react with 4-nitrophenol and produce light when subjected to the enzyme chitinase. This product is not produced by an animal or plant, but does contain animal and plant derivatives.
