About this product

4-Methylumbelliferyl b-D-cellobioside 4-Methylumbelliferyl b-D-cellobioside is a cellobiose derivative that is used as an active substance for the determination of the activity of mammalian cells. Cellobiose is a sugar found in plants and fungi, which can be hydrolyzed to glucose by enzymes such as endoglucanase. This compound also acts as a substrate for the polymerase chain reaction (PCR). 4-Methylumbelliferyl b-D-cellobioside binds to antibodies and thereby facilitates the detection of monoclonal antibodies. The binding constants between this fluorescent dye and cellulose are high enough to allow its use in viscosity measurements. 4-Methylumbelliferyl b-D-cellobioside has been shown to inhibit fungal biomass production in vitro by binding to cell wall components.
