This product has been shown to inhibit the activities of protease, lipase, and amylase. 4-Methylumbelliferyl heptanoate also inhibits IGF-I production by liver cells and body mass index. The mechanism for this inhibition may be due to its ability to cause cell lysis in adipose tissue, which leads to an increase in IGFBP-2 levels.
