Naphthol AS-TR phosphate Naphthol AS-TR phosphate is an experimental drug that inhibits the activity of proteases, which are enzymes that break down proteins. It was shown to have a high specificity for Onchocerca volvulus, a parasite that causes onchocerciasis in humans. Naphthol AS-TR phosphate has been shown to inhibit the expression of target genes in experimental infections with this parasite and has also been used to treat cancer. This drug is cell specific and can be used for histochemical staining by binding to phosphatase enzymes. NASTRp is an inhibitor of CREB-CBP complex which possesses anti-cancer effects along with cell cycle regulation, autophagy suppression, and endoplasmic reticulum stress.
