XTT sodium salt is also a potent antioxidant that has been shown to have biological properties against oxidative injury in experimental models. It inhibits the growth of Candida glabrata by reducing the mitochondrial membrane potential and inhibiting the synthesis of ATP in cells. XTT sodium salt also has antibacterial efficacy against Gram-positive bacteria, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, and Gram-negative bacteria, such as Escherichia coli.
