About this product

Lacto-N-triose II (LNT II) Product Description Lacto-N-triose II (LNT II) is an important intermediate human milk oligosaccharide (HMO) building block consisting of GlcNAcβ1-3Galβ1-4Glc . It is the enzymatic hydrolysis product of Lacto-N-tetraose (LNT) and functions as a fundamental core structure in the biosynthesis of numerous complex HMOs including fucosylated and sialylated oligosaccharides. In glycobiology, LNT II serves as a key substrate for glycosyltransferases such as β1-3-galactosyltransferase and fucosyltransferases, making it highly valuable for chemoenzymatic synthesis of HMOs and glycan libraries. The molecule also mimics host epithelial glycans and is used to study carbohydrate-binding proteins (lectins), bacterial adhesion mechanisms, and host-microbe interactions. Because it represents a minimal HMO motif recognized by beneficial gut bacteria, LNT II is widely applied in microbiome research and probiotic metabolism studies, particularly for Bifidobacterium species capable of utilizing GlcNAc-containing oligosaccharides. Key Features Core HMO trisaccharide intermediate Precursor for complex human milk oligosaccharides Enzyme substrate for glycosyltransferase reactions Useful for glycan engineering and synthesis studies Supports microbiota utilization research Appearance & Solubility White to off-white amorphous powder Highly soluble in water Hygroscopic; readily forms clear solutions Applications Chemoenzymatic synthesis of HMOs Glycosyltransferase and fucosyltransferase assays Lectin and receptor binding studies Host–pathogen interaction research Microbiome metabolism and probiotic utilization studies Analytical reference standard (HPLC, LC-MS, NMR) Quality & Storage Research grade material Store at −20°C in a tightly sealed container Keep dry and protected from moisture Long-term stable when stored desiccated
