It has been found to inhibit the growth of tumour cells and induce apoptosis in vitro. Camelliaside A also has an inhibitory effect on the enzymatic reaction, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the activity of phospholipase C (PLC). This compound has also been demonstrated to have antitumour activity, as well as inhibiting the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-6 and IL-8.
